Got Water Pooling In Your Garage? Here’s your slab jacking solution!
Will My Concrete Crack or Break During This Lift?
This customer’s garage floor had settled and bowled by approximately 7 inches in the centre of the floor and water was pooling in the centre. We assumed that a large void was more than likely present beneath and around the perimeter of the slab. Before and throughout the process of this large lift, we knew that some issues would present themselves. Concrete does not bend… It cracks and breaks when you try to bend it. When trying to remove a 7-inch dip or bowl in the centre of a garage floor, there are going to be cracks and breaks. In this photo, you can see where the water was ponding and where the concrete dips in the centre.
Polishing Isn’t Always Necessary
It’s a good thing that these days we have polishing and resurfacing techniques. Sometimes you just need that extra sparkle after a lift. But in most cases, it’s just a garage floor, right? If you’re using your garage as a parking space, no extra attention is needed. As long as the larger cracked areas are patched after the lift, you don’t need to worry about any water getting back down into them and ruining your newly raised garage floor.
To stop the water from pooling in the garage, all we had to do was raise, level and stabilize it enough to achieve water drainage off of the slab and out over the overhead door threshold. We conveniently completed this lift in about 4-5 hours, rather than days or weeks when you compare it to removal and replacement. Due to the foam curing completely in about 15 minutes from the time of injection, all items and vehicles of the owner were able to be moved back inside right away.
Cost Effective Alternative to Replacement!
Over time, Manitoba sub-bases unfortunately heave, thaw and settle, and sometimes it even happens much too fast for your concrete. Instead of ripping out your concrete and spending loads of hard-earned money and patience for days to come while waiting for a redo, contact Slab-Jack Kings for a free consultation and estimate. In most situations, we are able to better support and repair your concrete in less than an hour or two depending on the size of the lift. Once the dime-sized injection holes are patched, and you can start your post-lift maintenance and use your concrete immediately. It’s like you never had a concrete issue in the first place once we’re gone!
