Before and after of concrete lifting for a sunken sidewalk at the front entrance in Winnipeg.

Before:

Our client’s front walkway had settled up to 5.5 inches, creating a steep and unsafe transition to the front steps.

Project Objectives:

To restore safe, easy access, our team carefully raised the walkway by 3.5 to 4 inches, returning it to a uniform 7.5-inch rise at the entrance.

We also addressed settlement on the north edge near the driveway, lifting it by up to 3 inches for proper alignment and a level surface from street to step.

As preparation, the client removed about one foot of decorative river stone from each edge of the walkway—ensuring optimal access for material injection and precise monitoring during the lift.

Results:

  1. Even, safe step heights at the entrance
  2. Trip hazard eliminated
  3. Improved curb appeal and accessibility
