Problem:
This kitchen-to-dining room concrete slab had settled by as much as 7 inches, leading to uneven flooring, gaps between the grade beam and floor, and ponding water—creating safety and operational issues in this commercial restaurant.
Assessment & Preparation
- Technicians used a telepost area as the highest reference point.
- The client removed vinyl plank flooring from the dining room and adjacent kitchen areas to allow direct access for injection points and to monitor the floor for hairline cracks.
- Interior party wall between the kitchen and dining room was disconnected and removed.
- All water lines, drain stacks, and gas lines were safely disconnected for optimal foam injection and slab lifting.
- Kitchen appliances and most counters were temporarily relocated to ensure a smooth repair process.
- A party wall between the pharmacy and restaurant kitchen was partially modified to accommodate changes in floor elevation after lifting.
Repair Process
- Slab-Jack Kings raised, leveled, and stabilized the restaurant’s concrete floor—restoring safety, drainage, and a professional finish.
- Our commercial crew completed this time-sensitive project quickly, minimizing restaurant downtime.
Challenges
- A large void was discovered due to previous water drainage issues and failed underground plumbing.
- Additional work was performed to lift and stabilize the floor according to industry standards.
Results
Restaurant operations were restored promptly, with a safe, level floor and improved site drainage.
