Commercial Concrete Ramp Repair in Glenlea, Manitoba

We recently completed a concrete lifting project at the Bruce Campbell Farm & Food Discovery Centre in Glenlea, Manitoba. The goal was to correct a concrete ramp settlement issue at the facility’s main entrance to restore safe access for all visitors.

The Issue

Over time, the concrete at the main entrance had settled by approximately 2.5 inches. Because this area is a sidewalk with integral ramp, the drop created a tripping hazard and made accessibility difficult for guests using mobility aids. An asphalt lip had been installed previously as a temporary safety measure, but a more reliable, structural fix was required to bring the concrete back to its original grade.

Our Concrete Ramp Repair Process

Before our work began, the temporary asphalt patch was removed to ensure an accurate lift. Our team at Slab-Jack Kings then utilized high-density polyurethane concrete lifting foam to raise and stabilize the affected concrete.

By injecting polyurethane concrete lifting foam beneath the slab, we carefully raised the sunken concrete until the sidewalk with integral ramp was completely flush with the main entrance slab. We also stabilized the area up to 15 feet outward from the entrance to ensure proper support and prevent future settlement.

Project Details

This repair took approximately one hour to complete, allowing the work to be done without disrupting the center’s operating hours. We extended our standard 5-year warranty to a full 10 years for this project.

To maintain the 10-year warranty, the customer covered any exposed polyurethane foam along the edges of the lifted slab. Protecting the foam from UV exposure ensures the material remains strong and the sidewalk with integral ramp stays accessible for years to come.
